Xiaomi unveiled the Mi 4i smartphone at the Siri Fort Auditorium in New Delhi today. Hugo Barra, vice president of Xiaomi Global hosted the event, in a global premiere that was live streamed on their website.

The Mi 4i has a 5-inch Full HD (1920x1080 pixels) display, and is powered by a 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 octa core CPU, 2GB RAM, and has 16 GB of internal storage.

The rear camera is based on a 13 megapixel Sony/Samsung sensor, F/2.0 lens, with two-tone LED flash. Hugo Barra spent considerable time highlighting the Sunlight Display technology, which allows the phone to do dynamic tone mapping and image quality balanced in bright sunlight.

The Mi 4i is a dual SIM dual standby device that supports 4G LTE networks on both slots. It supports 802.11ac Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, and USB OTG connectivity. The Mi 4i runs MIUI6 on Android L, and adds support for six Indian languages — Hindi, Bengali, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam. The phone is powered by a 3120 mAH battery.

The Mi 4i comes with a price tag of Rs. 12,999, Registrations for the device will begin at 8 PM today, and the flash sale will begin on April 30 on Flipkart.

Xiaomi also announced the launch of the Mi Band in India for Rs 999.
