Xiaomi shipped 500,000 units in the first 12 hours, with the first order being shipped just 1 hour 27 minutes into the sale, a press statement from the company noted.

The Mi Fan Festival was held in seven countries this year; India, Malaysia and Indonesia were part of the promotion.

Xiaomi discounted its Mi 4 smartphone and bundled its in-ear headphones and power bank with the Redmi Note 4G for the Mi Fan Festival in India. Xiaomi’s products also went up for sale for the first time on Snapdeal and Amazon yesterday. The company has extended its celebrations in India for another 24 hours.

Xiaomi was ranked the top smartphone vendor in China by analyst firm IDC in 2014.
