Xiaomi announced its cheapest smartphone yet on its fifth anniversary. The Redmi 2A, priced at RMB 599 (Rs 6,039 approx) goes on sale in China on April 8.

Specs wise, the Redmi 2A is quite similar to its cousin the Redmi 2, it integrates a 4.7-inch IPS display, has 1GB of RAM, 8 GB of storage, with an 8 megapixel camera on the back, and a 2 megapixel camera for selfies. The Redmi 2A is powered by a Leadcore L1860C chipset, which integrates a quad-core 1.5GHz Cortex A7 CPU. Like its predecessor, the Redmi 2A has a 2200 mAh battery, dual SIM and LTE network support.

It will be interesting to see when the Redmi 2A releases in India, Xiaomi had announced that they would be launching a limited edition of the Redmi 2, which comes with 16 GB of storage and 2GB of RAM.
