Google extended its portfolio of devices running on its Chrome OS yesterday with four affordable new devices. The Hisense Chromebook and Haier Chromebook 11 are priced at $149, and the $249 Asus Chromebook Flip, an all-metal convertible ultra-portable PC.

Google also launched a new type of Chrome device called the Chromebit, which is the size of the Chromecast, and can turn any display into a computer. The Chromebit is expected to launch this summer.

Priced at $100, the Chromebit, manufactured by Asus, plugs into the HDMI port to boot Chrome OS. “It’s the perfect upgrade for an existing desktop and will be really useful for schools and businesses.” Google wrote on its blog.

According to Engadget, Chromebit is fitted with a Rockchip 3288 SoC, 2GB of RAM, 16 GB of flash memory, a USB 2.0 port, WiFi 802.11ac and Bluetooth 4.0 and an ARM Mali 760 quad-core GPU.

The Chromebit is comparable to the Intel Compute Stick which was announced at CES 2015. When it launches later this year, the Compute Stick will have two variants - the version that boots Windows 8.1 will be priced at $149, and the Linux version will cost $89.
