Indians dominated the conversation online on Facebook at the World Cup, Facebook’s data team has revealed.

28 million Indians had 340 million interactions about the World Cup since Jan 1, which is more than 50 percent of the cumulative 53 million users who had a total of 703 million interactions, Facebook in a press statement today.

During the final match between Australia and New Zealand, 3.7 million people had 9.3 million interactions on Facebook.

Australia’s Michael Clarke and Brendon McCullum were the most talked about players on Facebook on the day of World Cup Final, where Australia beat New Zealand by seven wickets.

According to Facebook’s data team, men belonging to the 18-24 demographic were the heaviest users, followed by men aged 25-34, followed by women aged 18-24.

According to the latest stats revealed to Medianama, India has over 118 million monthly active users, out of which 89% of Facebook’s daily traffic comes from mobile users.
