The 'Piku' Trailer Is Pretty Easy To Digest (Despite the Balki Hangover)

The trailer for 'Piku', starring Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, and Irrfan Khan, is out. The film, directed by Shoojit Sircar (Madras Cafe, Yahaan), releases in theatres on May 8.

Featuring Bachchan as Padukone's cantankerous father, prone to constipation and hissy fits, 'Piku' looks like it will be a breezy dramedy with a father-daughter bonding (or lack thereof) at its core. Bachchan is shown speaking in a Bengali accent which, it must be said, isn't the best.

Irrfan Khan's presence, however, is reassuring and makes us look forward to the movie despite its decidedly R Balki-ish hangover.
