In a gruesome turn of events to the gang-rape of a septuagenarian nun and the vandalisation of a church in West Bengal, The Indian Express today reported that the alleged rapist and his accomplices appeared "remorseless" after committing the crime.
A source in the convent told The Indian Express that the the alleged rapist and his accomplices helped themselves to imported chocolates, cakes and pastries meant for the students.
“They tied up two of the sisters in a room and dragged the septuagenarian nun to another room. They then started opening the refrigerators and took out the food items, including chocolates, cakes, pastries and other sweets meant for the students. Those were brought by a sister who had recently been abroad,” the source, who did not want to be named, told The Indian Express.
The men then escaped with some cash, a mobile phone, a laptop computer and a camera, all belonging to the school, reported Associated Press. They also ransacked the school's chapel and holy items, the PTI quoted the archbishop of Kolkata, Thomas D'Souza, as saying.
Meanwhile, the health of 71-year-old Sister Superior of Convent of Jesus and Mary, who is under treatment at Ranaghat sub-divisional hospital, is improving, PTI reported.
