S**t Indian Parents Say To Get Kids Hitched

In an attempt to address the bizarre reasons that Indian society gives single youngsters to get married quickly, Hyderabad-based online dating portal QuackQuack recently launched a campaign titled #HappilySingle that quickly went viral on Facebook.

The movement involved highlighting the reasons people in Bengaluru were given to get married. "The answers came quick!" says Ravi Mittal, CEO. "We captured these thoughts on blackboards and asked these people to pose with their thoughts, which were then posted on the portal's Facebook page last month."

With over 26,000 likes and 16,700 shares (till now), Mittal has high expectations for this campaign: "Our Facebook insights tell us that the campaign reached 2.5 million Indians which is proof enough of how the young feel about the message."

The campaign was started to inform society that young Indians prefer meeting their partner by choice, which, according to Mittal, fits the motive for dating platforms launching and thriving in India. "Not only is there pressure to get married, this illogical reasoning leads to somehow get youngsters married without really allowing them the freedom of choosing their own partner," he says. "It’s a known fact that while the young generation of India is evolving and wants to find their partners by choice, our society frowns upon such a thought."
