Lenovo-owned Motorola will be hoping their new handset is a hit in India.

Moto E's second generation handset will be launched in India on March 10 for Rs6,999 for the 3G version. The model will run on Android Lollipop. It has a 4.5-inch display, 2390mAh battery, and powered by a 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor. The battery life is an improvement from its previous model.

This phone will also have a front-facing 0.3 megapixel camera. That is a major addition, given the huge popularity of selfies. Autofocus has been added to the rear camera.

The 4G version might also be launched but operators have not started the service in India yet. Reliance Jio had won the round of auctions, and is expected to roll out 4G LTE this year.

Moto E will be sold exclusively on Flipkart. Lenovo has not made much of an impact in smartphones in India, unlike its success in China. Samsung, Micromax, and Lava sell the bulk of phones in a largely low-cost market. Recently Xiaomi, the world's most valuable tech startup, has also started selling limited number of models on Flipkart.

The previous version of Moto E, launched last May, was the first model after Motorola was purchased by Lenovo following an unsuccessful stint as a Google-owned business.
