Even as the blistering heat of the Indian summer is around the corner, police in Patna on outdoor duty can breathe a sigh of relief: according to this report, the police department is investing in jackets that will shield the traffic policemen from uncomfortable temperatures that remain cool for up to 8 hours in one go.

The jackets are constructed from a fabric termed Selvel Poly Venyl Alcohol. The jackets are meant to be dipped in water and then wrung, after which they remain cool, and ensure the wearer also stays refreshed.

The jackets had a successful demonstration at the SSP office after which they were duly approved. In addition to these wonderful ensembles, the women traffic cops on duty shall be assigned lazer torches that also emit electric shocks.
