InMobi Now Reaches 1 Billion Unique Devices

InMobi, the global mobile advertisement network, said today it reached 1 billion unique devices in the fourth quarter of 2014. The company, based out of Bangalore, India, is the first mobile-focussed platform to reach this figure.

InMobi is second only to Google in the worldwide ad market. In the latest quarter, 43 percent of its users came from advanced mobile markets in North America and western Europe. 38 percent came from Asia, the fastest-growing region for smartphones, and 10 percent of users were from Latin America. The company processes six billion ad requests a day.

Founder-CEO Naveen Tewari started InMobi in 2007, with a focus on chats and VOIP services. After a year, Tewari switched the business to mobile ads. The timing worked as internet ads started to take off. The company got funding from Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers and Softbank, which put in $200 million in 2010.

"Our commitment to creating a rich and unique mobile ecosystem is what sets us apart and has helped us reach this milestone," Tewari said in a statement. "We are reimagining advertising at its core, and now, with over one billion devices on our network, we are well-positioned to deliver on that promise."

InMobi is used by a variety of brands and app developers, including Game of War: Fire Age developer Machine Zone, among the most popular apps on the Apple App Store.
