Aamir Khan 'Scolds' Actors For AIB Roast; Bollywood Reminds Him Of 'Delhi Belly' & 'Dancing Car'

Aamir Khan Thinks AIB Roast Is 'Violent'; Bollywood Reminds Him Of 'Delhi Belly'

Actor Aamir Khan’s criticism of the All India Bakchod roast of Arjun Kapoor and Ranveer Singh has not gone down well in Bollywood.

Khan recently said that he disapproved of the program, and had even communicated it to the actors, including roastmaster Karan Johar, who were a part of the show. While he said that he supported freedom of speech, he "personally" did not like the programme.

“My opinion is that it was a violent show. Karan (Johar) and Arjun (Kapoor) are my friends and I scolded them and told them that I was not impressed with it. If you think 25 abuses can impress me, then you’re wrong. I’m not 14 any more; abusive language doesn’t excite me. If you can make me laugh without hurting anyone, that I’ll appreciate. I don’t think jokes about the colour of skin or one’s sexuality are funny at all,” Aamir said.

Khan, who is by and large seen as the blue-eyed boy of Bollywood, especially after the success of his show ‘Satyamev Jayate’ that addressed pressing social issues and his movie 'PK' that had the country up in arms about religious practices, has been receiving a fair amount of flack for his opinions on the roast.

The actor was captured in an interview where he started out by admitting that he had not even seen the roast, but only heard about it. His next statement could appear contradictory: he said he had viewed only two to three clips of it — the AIB Knockout was available in three parts.

"I happened to be at a place where Karan and Arjun came to that place and told us about the roast and the dialogues that were exchanged. I was deeply affected by it and most disappointed by what I was hearing," Khan said.

This NDTV report said director Anurag Kashyap, who was present at the roast and himself a butt of many of the jokes cracked on stage, was upset with what Aamir had to say.

Director Tarun Mansukhani tweeted: “I ask u nt 2 b so callous n b a responsible celebrity” along with a link to an open letter by blogger Vidyut and an old YouTube link that highlight Aamir's justifications about the film 'Delhi Belly' and its controversial song 'Bhaag DK Bose'.

Aamir was the producer of Delhi Belly and the song became a viral hit among the youth, especially for being a play on a cuss word in Hindi.

Entertainment blogger Miss Malini went on to list the eight reasons Aamir condemned the show.

Film critics Raja Sen wrote in Rediff.com: “But for Aamir Khan, the producer of Delhi Belly, to shame these boys -- and the celebrities involved -- for swearwords and insults, is the most hypocritical thing in the world”.

“For someone like you to not shun the offended and instead take offence at the content, well, Mr Khan, is wholly asinine,” said Sen.

Aamir was also called out for showing scenes that implied people were having sex inside parked cars in his alien drama ‘PK’.
