Superstar Mohanlal's new music band Lalisom has not been disbanded, says the band's director.

The band was criticised for its debut performance at the opening ceremony of the 35th National Games Saturday in Thiruvananthapuram.

"Being our first outing and also because of the big opening ceremony cultural programme, there was a lack of coordination. What arose yesterday (Saturday) were practical problems in coordination. The reports that the band has been dissolved is baseless," the band's director Ratheesh Vega told reporters here Sunday.

A day before the opening ceremony, Mohanlal had said that the speculations in the media that he had taken Rs.2 crore for the show was baseless and the truth was that he had only charged for the expense while his appearance was for free.

Popular film director Vinayan told reporters that it was most unfortunate that the programme was a utter failure.

"After having taken a huge fee for this event, the quality was appallingly poor. This is also one form of corruption," said Vinayan.

CPI-M legislator V.Sivankutty also breathed fire against the lacklustre performance of the musical band.

"Mohanlal owes an explanation," said Sivankutty.
