Last weekend, fans milling outside Amitabh Bachchan's Mumbai-based home, Jalsa, were given a mini bonus. The legendary actor was seen with his granddaughter Aaradhya in his arms as he came out to meet his fans. The moment was captured in two beautiful photos and posted by Bachchan, fondly called 'Big B' by fans, on his Facebook page.
Dressed in a bubblegum pink cardigan and a blue skirt, the youngest Bachchan clung onto her grandfather's arms as he waved at the cheering crowd.
Bachchan wrote on Facebook: "I took the little one out to meet the Sunday well wishers .. apprehensive and wonder filled her little delicate hands and feet and mind .. BUT ... they are the sweetest gifts of the Almighty .. and we are blessed to have them.."
Just recently, the actor who will be starring in the much-awaited film 'Shamitabh', was awarded Social Media Person of the Year award by Internet and Mobile Association of India. With more than 10 million followers on Twitter, and 18,949,100 likes on his Facebook account, the recent pictures were shared 1,215 times within his fan community.
The 70-year-old Bachchan has made it a ritual — one that has thrived amidst other Mumbai traditions for almost three decades — to come out on his terrace every Sunday to acknowledge and wave to his fans at approximately 6pm in the evening. Even as this little event has become more infrequent over the years, Bachchan's 'darshan' has never failed to draw throngs of millions, forever adding more to the crowd.
Here's a look at how many fans gather every Sunday evening to catch a glimpse of the actor.
