Former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Omar Abdullah has asked state Governor NN Vohra to relieve him of his duties as caretaker administrator. He confirmed this on Thursday in a series of tweets.
Abdullah, who won the Beerwah seat in the J&K elections last month, shared details of his meeting on Thursday with Governor Vohra.
Claiming that he had "agreed to stay temporarily" as caretaker CM, he said he had "assumed" that the new J&K government would have been formed within a week or 10 days of the election results.
"Today we seem even further away from that goal than we were 10 days ago," tweeted Abdullah.

He stressed the need for a stable government in the state, citing several concerns amid cross-border firing and continuing flood relief work.
Given the situation on the border with 10,000 displaced, the hardships of winter & the continuing need for relief for flood affected 3/n

I believe the interests of the state will only be served by a full time administrator & not a caretaker with no mandate to govern. 4/n

The former CM also accused the People's Democratic Party of dallying over the state government formation.
It is now for the @jkpdp to explain to the people that with 28 MLAs & offers of support from 2 other parties why the state has central rule.

Last month, a fractured verdict in the Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections left no party with a clear majority. The highest number of seats was won by the PDP, but the party, with 28 seats, fell well short of the 44 seats required to form the state government.
