If you’re planning to go drinking with your buddies in Bangalore, get a free beer in six restaurants that have partnered with Momoe, a mobile payment app available for Android (iOS version launching in the new year). The six partners restaurants participating are Prost, Over the Top, Enigma in Koramangala, Brewsky in JP Nagar, Mezzeh in Indiranagar and Opus on Palace Road.
Momoe lets you pay using a smartphone at physical stores, enabling users to leave home without a wallet.
Launched in August this year, the app works with over 30 retail establishments, mostly pubs and restaurants. The app lets you view your tab which is updated live with your orders, and split your bills with your friends.
“You can also treat your friend or parents using this app, sponsor them a meal by paying through your phone. All you have to do is make a reservation at the restaurant and give them your mobile number,” said Ganesh Balakrishnan, co-founder of the app.
“App store reviews are at 4.5 plus. Everyone is awed by the user experience, especially the smooth app flow and seamless payment process. Two-factor authentication is an annoyance, but customers know the drill from their online transactions. We have 25-30 percent of users who are coming back to the app,” said Ganesh.
The app currently has a user base of over 3000 customers, and has crossed Rs 1 million in transactions. They plan to expand to other urban metros in India and abroad once they get to a 100-150 restaurants in Bangalore. The startup currently has five founding members and eight employees.
