India's Parliamentary Affairs Minister M Venkaiah Naidu had lawmakers in the Lower House of Parliament rolling with laughter on Tuesday after he quipped that he still received love letters. His wife knows about the letters and does not mind them, he assured the MPs.

Naidu, 65, was replying to BJP leader Manoj Tiwari who clearly got carried away and said he loved Naidu for tabling a bill on regularization of unauthorized colonies in Delhi, the Times Of India reported.

"Manoj Tiwariji went even to the extent of singing a song saying, 'Venkaiahji, I love you.' I have no problem with that. My wife is not going to misunderstand you because many people love me and write love letters to me since my younger days," TOI quoted Naidu as saying.

The Lok Sabha, which has seen raucous protests over the last few days, had a brief moment of respite that united the members when Naidu stated that his wife “is here in Delhi. I will tell her definitely that there is one more person who has joined,’’ The Hindu said in its Parliament briefs.
