Cut Your Own Side-Swept Bangs With These 4 Simple Steps (VIDEO)

We have our scissors ready.

If you've got bangs, you know that it can get pretty pricey to keep that fringe fresh. Once the salon manager has finished calculating the costs of your haircut, highlights and blowout, you're digging deep into your wallet to pay hundreds of dollars for "standard" maintenance. So why not save your hard-earned cash and hours of time by cutting your own bangs at home?

BellaSugar reporter Kirbie Johnson visited The Private Room salon in Beverly Hills where owner and celebrity hairstylist Tina Dizon shared her secrets to trimming side-swept bangs. In order to perfect "the flirt" (aka long bangs), Dizon says that it is best to start with dry hair because if you snip away on wet locks, you'll risk taking off too much. You want to be sure to trim on the opposite side of where bangs will fall, pulling a one-inch section of hair out and not down. To avoid ending up with Bettie Page bangs, cut into the ends at one-half inch at a time. Easy, right?
