There's no doubt about it: Hyderabad is India's haleem hub. For some people, this meat and lentil stew is an acquired taste, while for others it is a favoured delicacy. Although it is prepared throughout the year, it is most popular and in demand during the holy month of Ramadan. These days, restaurants make it and send across states and even ship to other countries. That's how special haleem is. It's basically a bowl of simmered down meat with lentils, fragrant spices and ghee, all topped topped with fried onions, nuts and coriander. It's rich, filling and absolutely delicious.
