It’s one of the most important investments India can make.
India is currently enjoying a 'demographic dividend', which means it has a higher labour force than the population dependent on it. While this may appear a reason for blissful complacency, it must be remembered that by the latter half of the century India will have an increasingly aging population, yet the country lacks a social security net adequate for the needs of its people.
I like this new India. This Youth India. That fights for its rights. That doesn't let the ghosts of past traditions dictate its worldview. This Independence Day I wanted to give this Youth India some credit for growing all by itself. And if there is any wisdom to impart to it at my ripe old age of barely 31, then kids, listen up, this is for you.
