The year 2014 was quieter when it came to updates released by Google and the impact of these changes to the search engine's algorithm. But make no mistake, these updates were as relevant and important to the scheme of things as were updates in the previous years. Google continues its attempts to clean up search results by weeding out spam in various forms, from content, links and ads.

E2M has made it a point to come out with an annual infographic that recaps the major updates released by Google over the course of the year. This infographic, like its counterparts in 2012 and 2013, takes readers through all the updates that Google pushed out in 2014. The idea is to help understand these updates in a chronological order.

So, take a look to get a summary of these updates, what they were all about and how they helped Google expand its battle against spam in 2014.
