The preoccupation with gender selection is not the appanage of the modern period. Ever since ancient Greece, people have been searching for ways to conceive a baby of a gender that they want.

Where do we know this from? Well, from some famous ancient Greek philosophers: Democritus, Aristotle, Parmenides, Anaxagoras, who offer us, in their writings, some precious details about this. These sages claimed that the sperm’s consistency, the temperature and the supremacy of certain parts of the body are the factors that determine the human gender.

Although these theories have never been proven, the people from Antiquity used to believe in them and applied them while trying to conceive a girl or a boy. Well, in the last few dozens of decades, things have changed a lot, in that nowadays the scientists handle the problem of gender selection, and not the philosophers (as it used to be in the ancient times).

The point is that the scientists really know what they are talking about, unlike the sages who only formulated some theories, without being able to prove them.

The scientists have discovered some proven methods of animal and human sex selection. Some of these methods are natural, while others can be considered artificial. On the one hand, the natural ones (which show, for example, how to conceive a girl naturally) don’t affect directly the conception and let this conception to happen in the natural way. On the other hand, the so-called “artificial” methods of sex selection affect directly the conception process and it makes it to happen in an unnatural way.

These “artificial” methods use a lot of artificial techniques and tools that help a woman to get pregnant with a baby girl or baby boy. These artificial strategies of gender selection can also be called “scientific” methods, because they represent the result of countless scientific discoveries in multiple related fields, like: medicine, biology, anantomy, physics, chemistry, genetics, etc.

About these scientific ways to conceive a girl I wanted to talk about in this article. First of all, here are some of the possible alternative names for this kind of methods of gender selection: artificial, scientific, medical, laboratory, complex, high-tech, etc.

The first two names are explained to you in the paragraphs above. Now, let’s see why they can be called “medical”; well, these scientific methods can be used only under close supervision of some highly trained medical professionals; moreover, these procedures themselves can be effectuated only by some specialized medical doctors.

The persons wanting more info on how to conceive a baby girl ought to know the reason for which the scientific methods of gender selection are called sometimes “laboratory” methods: they can be performed only in very specialized and well equipped laboratories, being impossible to be applied at home, unlike the natural methods, which can be used very easy at home.

The scientific methods are complex since they encapsulate decades of research in so many fields. They are also called “high-tech” methods, because they use high-tech equipment.

Let’s see now what are the benefits of these scientific strategies of gender predetermination, which offer you useful tips to conceive a girl. The first and maybe the most important benefit refers to their efficiency: the scientific methods are the most effective strategies of sex selection, having success rates superior to the ones of the natural methods; one of these “laboratory” methods has an amazing accuracy rate of 100%, when no technical errors occur.

Another important advantage of these scientific methods is that they are scientifically and clinically proven, unlike the natural techniques, which are demonstrated only experimentally. However, it’s useful to know also the downsides of these high-tech methods of gender predetermination. The greatest disadvantage of the scientific strategies of sex selection (which is present also at the best way to conceive a girl, which is the method “PGD with IVF”, the sole method with 100% accuracy rate) is represented by their huge price. The second most important drawback of this type of sex selection strategies is that they are very embarrassing, since they use techniques of artificial insemination to implant in the future mother’s womb the embryos that are obtained in the laboratory.

After this overview of the main aspects of the scientific methods, it's time to find out what are the most important "laboratory" techniques of gender predetermination. There are actually three such methods (which are considered the best ways to conceive a girl): PGD (with IVF), MicroSort (with IUI or IVF) and the Ericsson Method. PGD stands for "Preimplantation Genetic Diagnosis", IUI means "Intra-Uteriine Insemination", while IVF represents the "In Vitro Fertilization".
