The Genius Trick To Storing Natural Peanut Butter, No Stirring Required

This trick is so smart it's stupid.

There's no better pantry staple than a jar of peanut butter.

So sweet, so salty, so chewy, so creamy. The all-natural varieties are healthy -- studies show that eating more nuts will help keep you from dying at any given age, and peanut butter can stem your cravings and help control hunger for eight to 12 hours -- but they're messy as all get-out.

Because all-natural peanut butter is made without added stabilizers such as hydrogenated oil, the peanuts' natural oils will separate and float to the top of the jar. You can mix it in with a spoon, an electric mixer, a butter knife or any other utensil, but you're bound to get oil all over your counter (or on yourself).

Here's a trick so simple it's almost stupid: Just store your jar upside-down.

The oil will rise to the bottom of the jar, leaving the solids at the top. So when you're ready to spread the peanut butter around, just flip the jar ride-side up and it'll be ready to go (even better, as the oil makes its way back through, the butter will absorb it again).

It works for all nut butters, as long as the ingredients are nothing more than "nuts, oil." You might have to stir it once after you first open the jar (and if you've already started storing your jar in the fridge, just let it sit out on the counter for a few hours to de-chill before turning it upside down). After that, the upside-down trick really works great.
