Alanis Morissette Breastfeeding: Singer Willing To Continue Until Son Is Six

Alanis Morissette Willing To Breastfeed Son Until He's Six

Just when you think the furor over that Time magazine breastfeeding cover story is going to go away...

Former pop queen Alanis Morissette told ABC's "Good Morning America" that she's prepared to allow her 17-month-old son, Ever, to breastfeed until he's six years old.

The 37-year-old Grammy winner, married to rapper Mario "MC Souleye" Treadway was asked about the controversy over attachment parenting, which includes longer periods of breastfeeding.

"I know some children who have weaned naturally at two years, some kids wean naturally a couple of years later. I mean, it's up to every child," she told GMA.

Other celebs who have jumped into the debate are "Big Bang Theory" actress Mayim Bailik, 36, who breastfeeds her 3-year-old son and wrote the book, "Beyond The Sling: A Real-Life Guide To Raising Confident, Loving Children The Attachment Parenting Way."

Bailik wrote on her Facebook page that she supported Time magazine cover mom Jamie Lynne Grumet, who still breastfeeds her 4-year-old son:

“I was shocked how amazing her story was, and she gave an educated and eloquent set of responses. I would not have done a photo shoot myself but I respect her and think she is a smart woman.”
