A self-employed user interface and interaction designer based in Mumbai, running her own online freelance design studio PurpleCube Design Studio. A hardcore 'Simplest', Shaheena lives her life by her own quote "Everything is designed and everything is simple. If it isn't simple, It just isn't designed well".
A fan of Mother Teresa, she believes in her popular saying, “The good you do today may be forgotten tomorrow. Do good anyway. Give the world the best you have and it may never be enough. Give your best anyway. For you see, in the end, it is between you and God. It was never between you and them anyway.”
Apart from designing, she also dedicates some time to social causes like sanitation and helping the poor. In the long run, Shaheena aims at starting her own NGO dedicated to helping education and awareness amongst women through innovative and interactive technologies. She also wishes to open a girls school in her maternal village since her mother did not get a chance to study due to social taboos, but is equally passionate about it.
I decided to oblige the street child and went into the McDonald's to buy him a coke float, thinking that no one would object if I accompanied him. To my surprise, though, as we were standing in the queue, a staff member approached us, caught the child by his collar and pushed him out. I followed on his heels and demanded to know why he had done such a thing. He responded rudely, "Madam, we do not allow such people."
