Kashmir burst into a conflagration following the shooting death of Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani in a brief encounter in Kokernag, Anantnag district. So far, more than 1500 people have suffered injuries and around 30 protesters have lost their lives after the forces fired at them. It is a time of mourning in the state, and one of simmering anger as well.

Built in the 8th century, the Martand Sun Temple should be a marvellous testament to the architectural achievements of Kashmir's ancient Karkota Dynasty. Instead it lies forgotten and in shambles 8km from Anantnag in south Kashmir.

Pictures: The Dying Art Of Pottery In Jewar, UP

There was a time when thousands of people in the small city of Jewar, Uttar Pradesh, depended on the art of pottery making to make a living. Each generation would pass on the baton to the next one and life was good. Everything has changed now and the age-old craft in this city is in its death throes. Among 150 families, only five remain engaged in their traditional profession.
