Nickhil has received numerous awards from a variety of organizations, and has to his credit more than 30 patents and 20 conference papers.
Nickhil Jakatdar is a successful serial entrepreneur based in Silicon Valley. His latest venture, Vuclip, a company of the Hong Kong based media giant PCCW, is the leading premium video on demand (VOD) service in emerging markets with more than 9 million subscribers per quarter across 9 different countries.
• In all, Nickhil has launched 4 successful companies including Timbre Technologies Inc, Praesagus and CommandCAD which were bought over by companies like CommandCad and Tokyo Electron and has invested in 20 companies.
• Nickhil was born and raised in Pune, India. He went to the U.S. for his master’s degree and stayed on to complete his PhD at the University of California, Berkeley. At Berkeley, before he completed his PhD, he built his first company, Timbre Technologies, sold it for over $138mn and was well on his way to building his second venture.
• Nickhil has over 40 patents from his work at Timbre Technologies and was responsible for developing an industry standard in the field of Scatterometry; Nickhil’s patents are in some form or the other present in every chip produced in the world. Timber Technologies was a result of winning Berkeley’s first ever business plan competition.
