Dr. Madhusudan Raj has a Phd in Economics from Veer Narmad South Gujarat University, Surat and is an Assistant Professor of Economics, Department of Human Resource Development, Veer Narmad South Gujarat University. He has extensive experience in Human Development Projects with both National and State Governments and international agencies such as the UNDP. Dr. Raj’s academic interests lie in applying praxeology, which is the science of human action, i.e., Economics to analyse the real world and its various problems. Dr. Raj is also interested in studying the factors of economic growth and economic development. The major factors of his interest are Education, Health, and Environment.
Dr. Raj has been a vocal opponent of prohibition and has argued so in the ‘Explorer,’ the Monthly Newsletter of the Department of Human Resource Development Veer Narmad South Gujarat University. He has argued against prohibition stating various social and economic maladies that are associated with it for example, that apart from this the ban going against basic human nature, other worse consequences like the rise illegal sellers i.e., bootleggers, liquor barons, mafias etc., no checks in quality control and the focus of the police in apprehending bootleggers while not focusing on other crimes committed, amongst other factors.
