Jai Sharda has had a rich experience in the financial markets, having worked as an Investment Advisor as well as a Research Analyst. He is a Mechanical Engineer from the National Institute of Technology, Bhopal and an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad. As a part of one of India’s leading brokerage firms, he has researched on stocks across a wide spectrum of industries, including metals, capital goods, hotels, consumer durables, amongst others, publishing regular updates on these stocks. He has also conducted numerous seminars for investors, educating them about the prospects of the stock markets and advising them on their portfolios. Besides, he has been responsible for the stock market based training of in-house advisors as a part of his corporate role.
The Rampal plant is part of the Power System Master Plan (PSMP) formulated by Bangladesh in 2010 to add generating capacity to the energy-starved country. The trouble with the plant, though, is that it violates almost all the objectives of the PSMP. Ironically, the Indian government is supporting the development of this coal-fired plant at a time when India itself is moving away from coal-based power.
