Country Manager & Managing Director, Black &Veatch India
Mr. G. Sathiamoorthy is the Country Manager and Managing Director of Black & Veatch India, where he oversees and is responsible for all of the Company’s operations in India. He joined BVCPL in June 2013 and will spearhead the India Growth plan for Black & Veatch in Energy, Water and Telecom Divisions.
Mr. G. Sathiamoorthy was the Managing Director of Tecnimont ICB Pvt. Ltd. (TICB), India, where he had the Profit and Loss responsibility for the India operations.
TICB is an integral part of the MaireTecnimont Group, a premier engineering, procurement and construction company having varied capabilities and vast experience to execute large and complex projects worldwide on lump-sum turnkey basis.
After completing his Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from ACCET- Karaikudi (Madurai University) with Honours; Mr. Sathiamoorthy commenced his career witha machine shop in Thane and from 1987 onwards began his professional life withTecnimont ICB.
In his career spanning over 26 years with TICB, he started out as a mechanical engineer and rose quickly in the TICB hierarchy. As the Head of the Piping Department for more than 5 years Mr. Sathiamoorthy was responsible for the successful execution of many projects in India and abroad. He also held the position of Vice President (Plant & System Engineering) managing piping, civil, electrical and instrumentation departments from 2005 to 2008. Post that, he was promoted to Director (Engineering & Process) heading the engineering disciplines of the Indian centre, which is one of the cornerstone in the MaireTecnimont Group. He was elevated to the post of Managing Director from July 6th 2010.
Mr. G. Sathiamoorthy is a functional specialist with a vast knowledge domain in the engineering discipline and is recognized as a team player who inspires confidence in histeam mates. Under his dynamic leadership the company had seen a spurt in the acquisition and implementation of lumpsum turnkey projects in India.
He is also the Vice President of the International Project Management Association, Greater Mumbai Chapter.
Born in 1965 in Tamil Nadu, Mr. G. Sathiamoorthy currently lives in Mumbai with wife and two sons. He is an avid reader, an ardent cricketer and a technology aficionado.
The United Nations World Water Day (which was observed on the 22nd of this month) with its emphasis on sustainable development, is a reminder for us to reflect on our self-created paradox of poisoning rivers which are our life source.
