Dr. Anitha Iyer is a NYS licensed Clinical Psychologist, Clinical Director of the crisis contact center at the Mental Health Association of NYC, and Adjunct Assistant Professor at Columbia University’s Teachers College. She graduated with a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Columbia University’s Teachers College.
Dr. Iyer has considerable expertise in psychological, psychoeducational, and neuropsychological assessment of children, adolescents, and adults, as well as individual, group, couples, and family therapy ranging across various therapeutic modalities. She has particular expertise in the treatment of interpersonal trauma and Posttraumatic Stress Disorder.
In addition to providing psychotherapeutic care, Dr. Iyer actively participates in improving awareness of, and access to, psychotherapy through presentations at various venues as an extension of her professional roles. Her research interests include unearthing the psychological correlates of interpersonal trauma among South Asian women, developing efficacious treatments for sexual assault and trauma, and psychodynamic psychotherapy.
