Two persons have been arrested here for misbehaving with a couple from the United Kingdom and trying to rob them of their belongings, police said today.

Matthew and Jessie were travelling by a motorboat from Haridwar to Kolkata and had stopped near Pandarak for a break, Senior Superintendent of Police of Patna Manu Maharaj said.

Two locals approached the couple, and tried to snatch away their luggage, the SSP said.

The miscreants ran away after some local villagers came to the rescue of the Matthew and Jessie. The couple then lodged a complaint with Pandarak police station, the SSP added.

"Both the accused were traced and arrested from near the banks of the Ganges last night," Maharaj said, adding that the couple has resumed their journey.
