Aparisim 'Bobby' Ghosh, who served as the editor-in-chief at Hindustan Times for the past 14 months, has resigned from his post.

Ghosh was moving to New York "for personal reasons" a statement by Hindustan Times chairperson Shobhana Bhartia said.

Bhartia was all praises for Ghosh saying he brought in a dramatic shift in their various news products during his brief stint as the top boss of the newspaper.

"This is reflected not only in our traffic numbers, but in the sheer ambition of our journalism. Under his leadership, HT Newsroom has pursued bold ideas and has addressed some of the most pressing issues of our time. We have come to be recognized as the place for journalistic innovation and enterprise," Bhartia said.

While there is no information on his future ventures, Bhartia said that he has agreed to stay on editor-in-chief for a while "to help in the transition and complete some projects he has already launched".

Ghosh had taken over as the editor-in-chief of Hindustan Times in 2016 from Sanjoy Narayan, who had held the job since 2008.

Before Hindustan Times, Ghosh was the managing editor at Quartz for almost two years since June 2014. Ghosh has held several positions at Time magazine. He became 'world editor' for the magazine after having served as the Baghdad bureau chief and as a foreign correspondent in Iraq. He has also worked in Time Europe and Time Asia.
