A woman in West Bengal's Birbhum district was allegedly raped by three men, who later also inserted a glass bottle into her private parts.
According to a Hindustan Times report, the incident took place in the wee hours on Monday when the three accused, believed to be in an inebriated state, barged into the victim's house in Sainthia -- about 195 km from Kolkata.
The victim in her statement told the police that one of the offenders was known to her. "After they raped me, they thrust a bottle in my private parts before leaving," HT quoted the woman saying.
Hearing her mother's cries, the victim's 13-year-old daughter rushed out of her room. Seeing her mother's condition she screamed for help but no neighbour came forward. The victim was taken to a hospital almost five hours after the incident today morning.
The woman is said to be in a critical condition and needs to be immediately operated on but because of her delicate physical condition cannot be moved to a better hospital.
Police has started investigations but no arrests have been made so far.
