Srinagar CRPF's Photo Of Jawan Standing Guard Over Muslim Cop Offering Namaz Moves Twitter

The image remains with you.
Srinagar CRPF

The official account of Srinagar sector CRPF tweeted out a photo last evening captioned "brothers-in-arms for peace". It showed a Muslim cop of Jammu and Kashmir Police offering namaz while a presumably Hindu CRPF jawan stands guard. It struck a chord with many, especially in the backdrop of Kashmir's continuously churning politics.

Kashmir has seen violent protests against law enforcement officials, especially after the death of militant commander Burhan Wani. The unrest has escalated after the brutal lynching of DSP Ayub Pandith outside a mosque in Srinagar. Hurriyat leaders have been arrested and Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti has advocated dialogue with Pakistan to bring the state out of the "current mess".

In face of communal politics raising its ugly head in several states, the image, according to some, was a reminder of everything India stands for.

Needless to say, people were moved.

True spirit of what makes this country wonderful.
