Passengers in the Air India flight AI-880 from West Bengal's Bagdogra to New Delhi were left sweating and fanning themselves as the air conditioning in the aircraft failed to work.

A video put out by ANI shows passengers fanning themselves with in-flight magazines and safety manuals as without air conditioning, the closed space of the aircraft must have become unbearably warm.

Meanwhile, one of the passengers on the flight is seen arguing with the flight crew who had asked him not to record the ordeal on video.

"The AC is not working, all the passengers are hassled and on top of that you are asking us not to take a video? We won't show how the situation is? Have people not paid money for the tickets? I paid Rs 30,000 for a ticket because there was an emergency, and you are saying don't make a video of this," a passenger can be heard saying amid the constant waving of safety manuals.

Another passenger took to Twitter to describe the ordeal. In one of her tweets she mentioned that a crew member had even called the passengers stupid. She also said that the oxygen masks in the aircraft were also not working

ANI reported that the airlines has said that an investigation has been initiated into the matter.
