Days after a 22-year-old woman from Mangalore posted on Facebook about her harrowing experience with a man who kept following her on a scooter in broad daylight, the city police have arrested the accused.

Rizwan (29), the owner of the scooter and a resident of Jeppu near here, was arrested on Friday, PTI reported.

Mangalore resident Rashmi Shetty had narrated her ordeal on Facebook, asserting that she would not be cowed by the man's inappropriate actions. The 26 June post went viral, and over 3,900 people reacted to it while over 1,300 people shared it on the social media platform.

"I guess you never stop being enormously taken aback by these actions, no matter how many times you've had to deal with them," Rashmi had earlier told HuffPost India.

Shetty had not only taken a photo of the scooter's number plate, but she had also figure out the details of the scooter owner from the local transport authority. The police reportedly registered a suo motu case based on the Facebook post, and tracked down the scooter owner using the number plate Shetty had provided on Facebook.
