Jammu and Kashmir's Kralkhud area in Srinagar witnessed a touching moment of communal harmony when hundreds of Muslim neighbors made arrangements and participated in the rituals of a Kashmiri Pandit wedding.

In a video clip, tweeted by a journalist from J&K, men and women can be seen welcoming the bridegroom, with traditional Kashmiri 'Wanwun' songs.

At the wedding of Maharaj Krishna's daughter, the local Muslims reportedly made all the arrangements for the wedding. The celebration continued for at least a week, even though Muslims were observing Ramadan.

The locals, both Hindus and Muslims, requested the media to not cover the ceremony as they didn't want to make it look like a political agenda.

"We did help them with arrangements for almost a month but it isn't something which we do for publicity as we consider them our own. Islam teaches us these values," President Traders Association Kralkhud, Abdul Rouf Mali told Rising Kashmir.

Disregarding the difference between Hindus and Muslims, another local reportedly said, "How could I differentiate between people here when I have grown up alongside them."

Kashmir has been on the boil for the last several months with continuous cross-border firing and in-city protests. On Thursday, a senior police officer was lynched outside Srinagar's Jama Masjid.
