Hrithik Roshan has been finalised to play celebrated Mathematics professor Anand Kumar in what will be his official biopic, sources close to the development told HuffPost.

The film was pitched to both, Roshan and Akshay Kumar, but final negotiations have been locked with the Krrish 3 actor.

Super 30 will be directed by Vikas Bahl, who has previously directed Queen and Shaandaar.

Bahl was recently in the news after allegations of him sexually harassing a woman working at Phantom, a company where he is one of the directors, cropped up.

While there was speculation that he will be stepping down from his position in the company, it appears that the scandal hasn't really taken a beating at his professional career as he prepares to helm the ambitious biopic.

Anand Kumar is a mathematician best-known for Super 30.

Super 30 is an academic programme operating out of Patna, Bihar, where Kumar annually selects 30 underprivileged students from economically weak backgrounds and prepares them for the Joint Entrance Exam (JEE), required to secure an admission in the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT).

The program, initiated in 2002, has enjoyed a terrific success rate. While over 20 students have cracked the IIT on any given year, in 2008, all 30 students mentored by Anand made it to the prestigious institutions.

According to its website, "During this program students are provided absolutely free coaching, lodging, and food. Super 30 targets students from extremely poor families."

Anand's efforts have garnered international acclaim and he has been written about in Newsweek, New York Times, and Time magazine while Discovery has shot an hour-long documentary on his life. He has also extensively traveled to give talks at MIT, Harvard, and Tokyo University.

HuffPost reached out to Hrithik Roshan, Vikas Bahl, and Anurag Kashyap for a comment but is yet to receive one.
