Smartphones selling in the ₹15,000 - ₹20,000 range might comprise the fastest growing phone segment in India, but phones selling for under ₹10,000 are also clocking some impressive sales numbers. There is a new phone being launched in this category practically every other day. Here are some good options in this price range —
1. Xiaomi Redmi 4
This successor to Redmi 3S was launched last month in India. The base version of this phone, with a 2 GB RAM and 16 GB internal memory capacity, costs ₹6,999. It has a 5 inch HD screen with Qualcomm Snapdragon 435 processor.
The phone also boasts a 13 MP rear camera, a 5 MP front camera and a 4,100 mAh battery. Out of the box, the Redmi 4 will be running Android 6.0 with MIUI 8 on the top. It comes in two other versions, with 3 and 4 GB RAM capacities and 32 and 64 GB internal memory capacities respectively. It also has a fingerprint sensor.
2. Yu Yureka Black
Micromax's sub brand Yu has reemerged this year after a long gap. The Yu Yureka Black has a 5 inch full HD display and a glossy all black metal body. Under the hood, it has the Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 processor with 4 GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal memory.
It has a 13 MP rear camera, an 8 MP front camera and a battery capacity of 3,000 mAh. It runs on Android Marshmallow 6.0. The Yureka Black is priced at ₹8,999.
3. Moto C
Having already launched phones in this segment under the Moto E and Moto G Play series, Moto has ventured into this category with a new series. The Moto C, priced at ₹5,999, has inferior specs as compared to other devices in this list. It has a 5-inch display with 480 x 854 pixel resolution and is powered by a MediaTek processor with a 1 GB RAM capacity.
The phone has a 5 MP rear camera, a 2 MP front camera, and a removable 2,350 mAh battery. It runs on Android Nougat 7.0.
4. Xiaomi Redmi 4A
Part of the new budget series introduced by Xiaomi, the Redmi 4A is priced at ₹5,999. It has a 5-inch 720p display powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 processor. It has a 2 GB RAM capacity and 16 GB of internal memory that can be expanded to 128 GB through a microSD card. It does not have a fingerprint sensor.
The phone sports a 13 MP rear camera and a 5 MP front camera. It is being launched with Android Marshmallow 6.0 out of the box, with MIUI 8.0 skin on top. The Redmi 4A has a sizable 3,120 mAh battery.
5. Coolpad Note 5 Lite
Coolpad is one of the top phone-makers selling its phones online. The Note 5 Lite was launched in March and has a 5-inch full HD display. The phone is powered by a Quad-core MediaTek processor coupled with 3 GB of RAM. It has a 16 GB storage capacity on board, with the option of increasing it to 64 GB through an SD card.
The phone has a 13 MP rear camera, and an 8 MP front camera. However, it only has a 2,500 mAh battery. The software on the phone is Android Marshmallow 6.0 with CoolUi 8.0 on the top.
