When 28-year-old Gaanam Nair went missing in Chennai on the morning of 26 May on her way work to work, her friends, family and strangers on social media worked together to find her.

Now, an online campaign and thousands of messages later, Nair has finally been found.

P Saravanan, Deputy Commissioner of Police, T Nagar (Chennai), told The Hindu:

"Our teams have traced her today and she is normal."

Another officer, who has been working with the investigation team told NDTV on the condition of anonymity that Nair was allegedly suffering from depression, which could have been one of the reasons for her sudden disappearance.

In March, she had written an emotional post on Facebook about a tumultuous romantic relationship:

But whether the write-up was her own personal experience or not, has not been ascertained.

The officer, however, told NDTV, that Nair reportedly had "marriage related issues with her family" and had some "health problems" as well.

Nair, who goes by the name Jikki Padhoo, works at a salon as a marketing manager and has reportedly directed several short and ad films. She was on her way to office on her two-wheeler when she went missing.

(More details awaited)
