Even as the Centre is adding new clauses to laws to strengthen the protection of cows, a 70-year-old homeless widow and a devotee of Lord Krishna, Phoolwati, has given away ₹40 lakhs of her savings to build a gaushala and a dharamshala in Vrindavan.
Phoolwati, who moved to Mathura in 1982, five years after the death of her husband and daughter, is of the opinion that the best way to serve Lord Krishna would be to serve cows and that she had no attachment to anyone else but Lord Krishna.
She told The Times Of India, ""Cow shelters are the best way to honour Lord Krishna, which is why I put in everything I had to build one."
After giving her entire life savings, by earning through donations from visitors to the Banke Bihari temple by taking care of their shoes and selling of some land, Phoolwati wants to build another gaushala at Barsana in Uttar Pradesh. She says that she wants to spend the rest of her life in service of Lord Krishna.
The report in The Times Of India said that Phoolwati sold her property in Jabalpur for ₹37 lakhs and put all of the money in building the gaushala, she doesn't like to talk about her good deeds.
