Woman Killed, School Damaged In Pakistan Ceasefire Violation In Nowshera, J&K

NOWSHERA -- A woman was killed and a government school was damaged in the ceasefire violation by Pakistan last night in Nowshera sector in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir.

SDM Nowshera Kalbhushan Sharma told that one woman was killed and a man was injured in the ceasefire violation by Pakistan at Nowshera Sector in Jammu and Kashmir.

"After a government Middle school in Jhangher was damaged, as a precautionary measure schools in border area villages have been asked to remain closed," said Sharma.

A resident of Kalsian village said that heavy shelling started across the border started at 10:30 p.m. on Wednesday night.

"A soon as the heavy shelling started children started crying and panic gripped citizens," he said.

A water tank of a government school in Jhangher village was destroyed and the walls bore the bullet marks.

Parshotam Lal, a resident of Jhangher, said at least 3,000 shells were fired from Pakistani side.

"Had the school been opened, entire Jhangher would have been mourning today," he said.
