A crime branch official told The Hindustan Times, "Almost all senior officers from city zone I and II are at work. Week-offs of several officials have been cancelled . Riot control police (RCP) platoons, too, have been deployed."
Now one would think this is for an event similar to the Republic Day Parade or Independence Day celebrations, but these arrangements are for none of that.
These arrangements have been made for Canadian pop-star Justin Beiber who arrived in India at 1:30 am at Mumbai's Kalina Airport.
Thousands of fans are supposed to attend Beiber's concert at the at DY Patil stadium at Nerul, and that is likely to cause an insane traffic jam on the Mumbai-Pune express way.
However the police told The Hindustan Times that the Mumbai police was not enough, they have also gotten in touch with Raigarh and Pune police and may divert traffic in some areas if things go out of hand.
And things are likely to go out of hand because Beiber's Belieber (for those who are unaware, thats what his fans call themselves) are known for their fanaticism and given that this is his first tour to India, more than 50,000 people are expected to attend his concert.
The Indian Express had reported earlier that Beiber is going to get Z+ security, apart from protection from Maharashtra police.
Beiber's starstruck fans, meanwhile, will not even get his autograph or even get to speak to him.
And if that wasn't enough, he has booked, not one but two hotels. The Indian Express reported that while top culinary experts will serve gourmet food for him over four days, five of the dishes will be renamed after his song.
