After a 14-year-old rape survivor from Haryana alleged that she was sexually harassed and forced to strip by male police officers in Kaithal during investigations, the Punjab and Haryana High Court issued notice to the Haryana DGP.
The 14-year-old was alleged that she was asked undress so that the police could examine that she was raped, reports Times Of India.
Now, according to a report in The Hindu, the Haryana government has ordered an inquiry into the charge.
"This matter is extremely serious... we have ordered an inquiry into the allegation levelled by the girl," Ram Niwas, Additional Secretary (Home) told The Hindu. Niwas said that the guilty will be served 'severe punishment'.
On November 20, the girl had filed the rape case with the police alleging that she knew the accused. In the petition that she filed, she said that the police assaulted her.
"One CIA policeman asked me to show him (how she was raped) by opening the buttons of my shirt and then put his hand on my thighs," the girl said in the petition, reports ToI. She wanted an FIR registered against the cops.
Even after submitting a complaint to the DGP regarding the sexual harassment, she alleged that there was no action taken. No FIR was filed against the policemen either.
