One of the most-followed medical cases in recent history, the story of Egyptian-born Eman Ahmed, believed to be the heaviest woman in the world who was flown to India for obesity treatment, has taken a rather unfortunate turn.
One of the doctors in charge of her recovery at Mumbai's Saifee hospital has put in her papers after Eman's sister, Shaimaa Selim in a video that went viral, claimed that Eman was still unable to move or speak, quite contrary to what the hospital had been claiming.
In protest, Dr Aparna Govil Bhasker, who had been a part of the team that had conducted bariatric surgery on Eman resigned from her care with immediate effect saying that what Eman's sister did was worse than physical assault on doctors and that she had broken the trust that must exist between patients and their caregivers.
