Xiaomi has finally announced the launch date of its upcoming flagship smartphone. The Mi 6 will be launched in China on 19 April.
The Chinese smartphone maker is launching its flagship phone quite late in the year, given that the Mi 5 was announced in February last year. The Mi 6 is expected to be launched in two screen sizes of 5.15-inch and 5.7-inch respectively. The bigger device will probably be called, Xiaomi Mi 6 Plus.
It is almost sure that the devices will run on the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor, though some reports have claimed that the Mi 6 base model will be running on the Snapdragon 821 processor.
As per earlier leaks, the phones will be released in 4 GB and 6 GB RAM variants, along with different memory options. The smaller Mi 6 is expected have 32 GB, 64 GB, and 128 GB internal memory variants, and the bigger Mi 6 Plus could have 64 GB, 128 GB, and 256 GB options.
The phones will be priced in the premium mid-range segment and are likely to start from CNY 1,999 (₹18,700 approx.) and CNY 2,599 (₹24,276 approx.) respectively for Mi 6 and Mi 6 Plus.
The fight for market share in India between Mi 6 and other players in the same space, such as Moto Z Play and OnePlus 3, will be keenly watched.
