Lenovo launched the Moto G5 budget smartphone in India today. The phone maker has tied up exclusively with Amazon for the sale of Moto G5, starting midnight tonight. It is priced at ₹11,999

Earlier, on 15 March, the phone maker had announced the launch of Moto G5 Plus, which is available for sale on Flipkart.

The Moto G5 comes with stripped down specs as compared to its cousin, the G5 Plus. The G5 has a 5-inch full HD screen and is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 processor in place of Moto G5 Plus' Snapdragon 625.

The phone has a 3 GB RAM, with a 16 or 32 GB internal memory. The smartphone comes with a 2,800 mAh battery, minus any turbocharging. Compay said it does have 'rapid charging' through a 10 W charger though. It has a 13 MP rear camera with f/2.0 aperture and a 5 MP front camera with f/2.2 aperture. The front camera also has a beautification mode to enhance selfies.

The Moto G5 will run Android Nougat 7.0 out of the box. It also has a Moto action and Moto display enhancements. Moto actions are gestures for waking up camera, turning on the flashlight and more. The Moto Display is to display tidbits of information on the screen when you nudge it without unlocking. It lets you see the messages or control the music quickly along with some more widgets.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 4's highest variant is priced at ₹12,999 and falls in the same category price wise as Moto G5. However, when it comes to specs, the Note 4 is evenly matched with Moto G5 Plus.

With Moto's new phones now available in the market, the 2017 Q2 battle between them and competitors such as Xiaomi, Vivo and Oppo will be keenly watched.

Amazon is bundling the Amazon shopping, Kindle, and Amazon Prime Video app. It is throwing some discount for these services as well. The prime customers would get ₹1000 cashback as well. There are a bunch of early bird offers such as 16 GB free SD card as well.
