KOLKATA -- Actor and grandson of thespian Soumitra Chatterjee, Ranodeep Bose, remained unconscious but is responding to treatment.
"He is responding to treatment but he is still deeply unconscious. He underwent tracheostomy on Monday, a temporary bypass for the airway, so that the ventilator support can be removed," CEO and Consultant Neurosurgeon of Institute of Neurosciences John Vasiloudis said in a statement.
A bulletin issued by the hospital said, "Tracheostomy is a progress as he (Ranodeep) is fighting for his life."
The actor, who was pillion riding on a friend's two-wheeler, suffered multiple injuries when his bike rammed into a concrete wall in the early hours on 31 March. He was admitted to a super-speciality institute.
The actor had debuted in the film Egaro (2011) and then acted in a string of critically acclaimed different genre films - Dutta Vs Dutta (2012), Family Album (2015), Ludo (2015) and Khawto (2016).
