Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who was campaigning for the upcoming civic body polls in New Delhi, when faced with chants of 'Modi, Modi' at his rally retorted to the crowd saying if chanting his name would reduce house tax, then who would also shout out the prime minister's name.

An NDTV video shows Kejriwal as saying, "Arey inse poochlo Modi, Modi chillane se house tax maaf hoga toh main bhi chillaunga 'Modi, Modi. (Ask them if shouting Modi's name will abolish house tax, then I will also shout 'Modi, Modi)"

"Arey Modi ne tumhare bijli ke bill kam kare kya? Agar Modi, Modi chillane se bijli ke rate kam hote ho toh main bhi chillaunga 'Modi, Modi' (Did moti reduce electricity tariff? If chanting his name reduces power tariffs, then I will also chant his name)," Kejriwal was heard saying in the video while campaigning in Delhi's Ghonda area and Gautam Vihar Chowk.

"Modi, Modi karne se pet nahi bharta (Chanting Modi, Modi doesn't feed people)," Kejriwal retorted.

PTI reported that Kejriwal criticised demonetisation during another gathering of traders in Bawana.

The report quoted Kejriwal as saying, "Due to demonetisation, labourers, farmers and traders have been ruined and people are losing their jobs, but PM is busy with changing dresses several times. Modi ji whatever you say, you should implement it first on you."

"If demonetisation would really eradicate corruption and black money, I will also chant 'Modi, Modi'. We had put our lives at risk during anti-corruption movement with Anna ji

"We had welcomed the Prime Minister's move for Swachh Bharat Abhiyan and Yoga Day, surgical strikes, but Modi has done wrong by introducing demonetisation and we will oppose it," Kejriwal said.

PTI reported Kejriwal as saying that the Prime Minister changed his clothes several times in a day but he preaches to people to sacrifice some time due to demonetisation.

"PM has sought 50 days from the people to remove their problems arising out of the demonetisation, but the Finance Minister said that it needs six month to make all things in place. Even Modi ji and Jaitley don't know solution.. ," he said
